The BG-Sentinel a light-weight collapsible mosquito monitoring trap has been used throughout the world by scientists, public health professionals and mosquito control operators for the surveillance of mosquitoes. Easy to transport and safe to handle, this basic trap only requires a 12 Volt DC energy source. (A motorcycle battery is suggested.) The BG-Sentinel can be used in-door as well as out-door.
A powerful tool to improve vector control, the BG-Sentinel is particularly effective in monitoring the dengue-carrying mosquitoes, Aedes aegypti, Aedes albopictus and Aedes polynesiensis. In addition, Culex quinquefasciatus and various other Culex species from the Culex pipiens (house mosquitoes) complex are attracted to this trap. The BG-Sentinel utilizes bidirectional convection currents. This patented technology mimics convection currents created and generated during heat exchange by the human body, as well as displaying attractive visual clues. To attract additional species, the BG-Lure is recommended for use in this trap.
